Body chemistry

We all know that drinking lots of water is important to keep our body hydrated and well functioned.  But how much water is enough? And can you drink too much water? The answer to the second question is: “Yes, it is possible to drink too much water, and consequences to that can even be deadly”. The first question has no exact answer, but it is somewhere between 6 to 12 cups, depending on the climate you live in and how much you exercise.  I don’t want to get too much into the details about that right now though, but much more share something I found out recently regarding our body chemistry.

Keep on reading, you'll find a tasty recipe at the end.

Setting the mind right - part 2

Step 2: Do the math

Losing weight as fast as possible will most unlikely be a healthy option, no matter how desperate you are to get rid of those extra pounds. Before you think on how fast you want to work off your overweight, think about how long it took you to gain it. In my case it was 46 lbs in about 9 years (108 month). It seems pretty obvious that losing it in let’s say 2 weeks is not very realistic. On the other hand having reached my goal-weight in 15 months doesn’t seem that bad anymore, right?

Setting the mind right

To lose weight is not an easy task. There is a world of diet options on the market and it is very hard not to get confused about which would be the right one. I am not a nutritionist or a doctor; I am just sharing my personal experiences, and what worked for me.

As I said in the previous post I never considered myself a diet-friendly person, just because I like eating so much and I like to eat all different kinds of foods. So if anything was going to work, it had to be a diet, which allowed me to eat and not starve throughout half the day. After all I still had to go to work, run errands, and fulfill my daily tasks. And it is hard to keep up with everything when you are always hungry. Not to mention the mood you’re in.

Therefore it is important that before starting any diet you set our mind right.

Stepping-Stone

2008 proved to be the year that set the stepping-stone for many positive changes in my life that have lasted ever since.

I flew home (to Switzerland) for Christmas 2007 and when I was back in Mexico and looked through the pictures of that trip, one particularly stood out to me. It was telling me very clearly that I had reached a limit on my extra weight.
